Shepherd’s Touch Celebrates 15 Year Anniversary

Like individuals and couples, agencies also celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Shepherd’s Touch is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary, which gives us an opportunity not only to reminisce, but also to refresh our vision and chart future direction.

When I first joined the Worship Center’s pastoral staff in 1985, I had no idea that I would become part of an exciting ministry like Shepherd’s Touch. Our counseling through the church grew rapidly and drew in persons from other congregations, as well as those with no church affiliation. Since it was evident that the vision God was giving us was a broad one, we gave birth to Shepherd’s Touch in 1992 as a way to meet the need for Christian counseling in the Lancaster area and beyond.

My heart is warmed as I think of how God has blessed us and used this ministry to bless others. As I travel down the memory lane of Shepherd’s Touch, several specific areas come to mind:

I thank God for all the individuals, couples and families we have helped. I am overwhelmed when I consider the hundreds who have been set free from bondages such as anxiety, depression, and addictions. Many individuals have become more Christ-like, and relationships more Christ-centered.
We have offered presentations to area churches, as well as seminars to the community, designed to build stronger marriages and families, inform people about mental health issues, etc.
We have trained scores of counselors who are currently serving individuals and families in a variety of settings.
Our work has taken on an international flavor as we have worked with missionaries and provided training in Russia & Brazil.
Over the years, we have provided satellite offices to several communities, including Reading, Elverson, Quarryville, Lititz, and Harrisburg.

Our 15th anniversary is a milestone, but we are aware that our task has just begun. Although Biblically based counseling continues to be the cornerstone of Shepherd’s Touch, we are also sensing fresh vision to meet the education and enrichment needs of our community.

I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you who have supported us with your prayers and finances over the years. We look forward to partnering with you as God leads us into the next step of service for Him.
